There is no doubt that the world we live in is becoming increasingly dangerous. From the beginning of time there has been the presence of evil, perhaps the first example being the snake in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, the snakes of the world have multiplied greatly number and whose sole purpose is to end the peaceful way of life we enjoy here in the United States and in other democratic countries.
The cowardly attacks on French civilians provides concrete evidence of the growing threat of terrorism and contrary to what Bernie Sanders believes, that growth is not due to global warming. The reprehensible attacks on France demonstrate that this new terror organization, ISIS, follows through with their threats, unlike our current President, who has not actively pursued or made much of an effort to silence this new snake of the Middle East.

This snake is well funded, armed, and fueled by hatred of the West. It’s predecessors may have possessed one or two of these attributes but not the combined triple threat. This snake has larger fangs, more venom, and a longer reach that it’s fellow slippery friends. Few other terror organizations have successfully infiltrated the United States and killed as many as we saw in France not two weeks ago. The other difference is that ISIS also utilizes social media to their advantage and broadcast their intentions. While we have a longstanding tradition of not negotiating with terrorists verbally, we need to begin speaking with them ballistically. It is incredibly frightening to think that they could replicate such an attack in fifteen states as they claimed they could do earlier in the week.

The whole purpose of these groups is to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. And up to this point they have been quite successful. Unless our Commander and Chief changes his policy when dealing with these religious fanatics they will again follow through with their promise of targeting western people. Will it really take an attack on our own soil for Obama to wake up and consciously attempt to destroy ISIS. At least that’s what it took for French President Francois Hollande to decide to change how he responds to ISIS threats. One can only hope it won’t have to go that far for the U.S…
A policy that has historically been successful when combating terrorism was one utilized by President emeritus, Ronald Reagan. His way was called, Peace Through Strength. This was basically the mutual understanding that the United States possessed the willpower and artillery to defeat any advisory of the United States. That credibility and faith in the United States’ military has slowly been eroded under the Obama administration. It was once understood among our enemies that we would deliver on our promises and neutralize anyone who threatened the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

To illustrate this point, during the final days of the Carter administration, radical Iranians still held 52 Americans hostages. President Carter had minimal efforts to change the situation and those Americans were forced to stay there much ultimately 444 days. Fast forward, to the inauguration of President Reagan. Within a number of hours of Reagan occupying the office of President, all of the hostages were released because those terrorists knew this native of Illinois would follow through with his promises.

The way I see it, we have two options a nation. We can either ignore the warnings like France and be forced to be reactive OR we can be proactive and pursue these oppressors of freedom (and women, and education, and other religions). I will leave you with this parting quote by Doctor Joseph Warren, President of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress.
“Our country is in danger but not to be despaired of, on you depends the fortunes of America.”
